Project Information
Project:
The Hornsmill at Helsby
Client:
Wedge-Wood Construction & Joinery
Scope of project:
New orangery featuring impressive lanterns to maximise natural light over eating area
em.glaze hip-ended lantern lights

The Challenge

When Hydes Brewery acquired The Hornsmill at Helsby, near Chester they wanted to reconfigure and extend the existing footprint. A modern looking pub with a cosy, warm and welcoming atmosphere, the project involved adding a large new orangery linked with sliding folding doors to a new dining terrace and beer garden. The orangery design featured impressive lantern lights to flood the area with daylight. Working with the architect, we responded to the brief with a solution that would enhance the experience of the building’s users and achieve the clients’ aspirations.

The Solution

Our expert team provided extensive design consultation to ensure the new installation met the requirements and blended seamlessly with the building aesthetic. Detailed plans and drawings were presented to ensure concepts could be visualised. The em.glaze dual pitch hip-ended lantern lights feature aluminium glazing bars and framework, double glazing with hermetically sealed glass units and glazed vertical upstands. The custom-made continuous rooflights were powder coated to match existing frames and trims and complement the overall aesthetics. In-depth project support and careful attention to detail produced an outstanding result – the two lantern rooflights installed provide a stunning centrepiece to the orangery eating area.

The Benefits

  • Detailed designs provided at planning stage to ensure concepts met requirements
  • Lantern lights feature electrically opening units to provide comfort ventilation functionality
  • Powder coating to blend seamlessly with existing
