Our Whitesales Rooflights Are The Focus Of The Room

“We always loved the house, but hated the kitchen and how dark and small it was. Now, we honestly love it. It’s bright and spacious and our favourite part of the house. Our electrician added some LED lights around the rooflights so even at night, they’re still the focus of the room.”

Testimonials don’t get much better than that from a couple in Surrey who had two Whitesales’ em.glaze flat glass Premium rooflights installed in a new ground floor extension in their early 20th century end of terrace property.

Their 5.5m wide x 4m deep extension replaced an old utility room on the back of the house, transforming the kitchen into a light and airy space, complete with rooflights, bifold doors and a living green roof.

The Whitesales em.glaze rooflights were specified by the couple’s architect, One World Design, in response to their brief which was to bring as much as light as possible into the north facing rear of the house.

The couple added: “The kitchen and the garden face north, so previously the rear of the house was always gloomy, and this affected the whole of the ground floor. We were chatting to one of our neighbours about the build and they said they had decided against doing the same thing a few years ago because they thought the finished result would be too dark. Now that they have seen how good our kitchen looks, they have just signed off their plans ready to build something very similar.”

The whole extension was completed over a four month period, with Whitesales supplying the em.glaze rooflights direct to site for installation by builders Heronlake Construction. The living roof, which has since become a haven for bees, was added after the rooflights by the specialists at Green Roofing.

Flat glass rooflights are currently outstripping conventional glass lanterns in terms of enquiries into Whitesales, with the streamlined look and ease of installation proving popular with homeowners and builders alike.

The Whitesales em.glaze Premium feature a sleek flush-glazed edge-to-edge design with an aluminium powder coated frame available in any RAL colour. They come factory pre-glazed for easy installation and are CWCT Class 1 tested as standard, which means they are safe to walk on for main for maintenance and cleaning.

They have all the thermal insulation properties that energy conscious homeowners demand and the double-glazed units can be specified in clear or diffused glass, depending on the privacy requirements, and with solar control and self-cleaning features.

Em.glaze Premium rooflights are held in stock in anthracite grey in 14 standard sizes on a 3-5 day delivery time or are available to order in a range of bespoke colours and sizes typically within 14 days.
