RUFUS is of course our much-loved office mascot, but more importantly, he’s our ‘Reliable Unique Fast User-friendly Specifier’ tool which lets you configure your perfect rooflight or lantern online. Here’s all you need to know about RUFUS (the online one!):

1. Who can use RUFUS?

Anyone who visits the website. There are two versions though – one for homeowners and contractors who don’t have an account with us which takes them through the process of configurating their chosen product and, once complete, displays the RRP. The other one is for  merchants when they are logged into their Whitesales account and this one displays their discounted price.

2. Which Whitesales products can I configure using RUFUS?

RUFUS is specifically designed to work for our standard ranges and for products and sizes we hold in stock, which is a pretty large amount to fulfil our leadtimes of between 1-5 days. For any non-standard products or special sizes, we always recommend you give our team a call to talk through the specification.

3. Can I make a mistake using RUFUS?

The reason why we call RUFUS Reliable is that it only allows users to configure products which we actually make or supply and which are compatible with one another. So, for instance, the upstand size you are offered will automatically be matched to the size of the rooflight or lantern you’re configuring to stop you accidentally ordering the wrong size.

4. Do I need to add in the part numbers myself?

No, all the part numbers are automatically generated and added into the product design as you work your way through the configuration process.

5. Can I place an order in RUFUS?

Yes. If you have a Whitesales account and you are logged in, you can configure your product and then place the order all on our system.

6. Can I save money by ordering via RUFUS?

Great news! All orders placed using RUFUS qualify for £10 off the delivery charge and we offer a sliding scale of discounts depending on the value of the order from £25 for orders over £1000 to £100 on orders over £2500.

7. I’m a merchant. How can RUFUS help me win business?

We think RUFUS is a great sales tool for merchants. You can use it with a customer to help them design their perfect rooflight or lantern and then you can save that design, add in your own logo and price, and send out the quote as a personalised PDF.

8. How do I register for an account?

Just give us a call or email us and we’ll have you up and running on RUFUS in no time.
