Scope of project: Upgrade existing roof lighting
Products: Em-Glaze Lantern Light
Skylight to improve the school working conditions.
The brief was to upgrade the existing rooflight to provide light and ventilation - which was badly needed as the area below was used for food preparation. The skylight would also need to be sympathetic to the existing building and reduce heat gain.
The Em-Glaze Lantern Skylight comprising of a vertical glazing skirt was installed, ensuring that it was in keeping with the original skylight appearance. The gable ended ridgelight included 4 motorised opening sections, providing ventilation. They also incorporated internal fly screens so that also met the strict school hygiene regulations. Double glazed glass was Solar Tinted with a Solar Transmission of 37%, guaranteeing maximum light and minimum heat-gain.
The design criteria was met and the finished skylight enhanced the school kitchen, making it a pleasant place to work in. The 10 year guarantee and 25 year life expectancy also gives the school management team peace of mind.
