Bespoke designed rooflights gives school full marks
The school had several single skin mono-pitched rooflights across classrooms and toilet blocks. They all required upgrading in order to bring them up to date with current building regulations. All work had to be carried out within a short half term to ensure minimum disruption, whilst maintaining the original appearance.
Rooflights provide light and ventilation
High levels of daylight were required to light the school sports hall changing rooms as well as good ventilation, while minimising ‘Solar-Gain’.
Skylights transform central London offices
The project involved creating an internal circulation area as well as providing a roof garden above, for staff to use during lunch breaks. Em-Glaze modular rooflights were used to provide ventilation within the circulation area by incorporating electric actuators into the skylights. The units themselves were installed to raised timber plinths, joined to seating and planters.
Skylight improves school kitchen working conditions
The brief was to upgrade the existing rooflight to provide light and ventilation – which was badly needed as the area below was used for food preparation. The skylight would also need to be sympathetic to the existing building and reduce ‘HeatGain’.
Baylis Old School
Whitesales were involved early in the project to design, specify and install smoke control and natural smoke ventilation, control panels and various accessories.
Winkfield Residential Scheme
At Mayfield Place in Winkfield, on the edge of Windsor, Bloor Homes had planned and designed seven five-bedroomed luxury houses that required new Ridgelights.
Barbican Centre is the largest arts centre in Europe, home to three cinemas, two theatres, two art galleries, two exhibition halls, a concert hall, a library and various conference rooms, shops, foyers and, unusually, a conservatory.
West Kirby Railway Station
West Kirby railway station’s 1930s platform canopy was long overdue refurbishment. Built of concrete and timber, and featuring skylights, it had begun to leak, while spalling saw small pieces of concrete falling on the platform. Whitesales were brought in by Briggs Amasco, Network Rail’s roofing contractor, to design, manufacture and install a series of non-fragile rooflights for the 900sq m replacement roof.
Wadebridge School Pyramid and Trapezoidal Em-Dome Rooflights
The existing roof of Wadebridge School’s design, technology, art and science block had begun to fail, with leaks, discoloured rooflights and reducing daylight transmission. An extensive roof refurbishment required replacing the skylights above classrooms and hallways. The project also presented an opportunity to improve the building’s thermal performance and reduce energy bills.
Sale Grammar School Rooflight Replacement
We were approached by Sale Grammar School to supply and install a variety of different rooflights for an extensive roof refurbishment project.
